July 22nd, 2010.

Today we went into Salem, Mass. Dad's always got funny comments about how that's where Grandma's witch coven is from. ;) Our first stop was on the sight seeing trolley that showed us lots of cool houses and buildings and gave us the history on them. After that we hopped off the trolley and found ourselves taking the tour of The House Of Seven Gables. (Kenzie's reading the book we bought in the gift shop now as we speak.) It was a really neat house, complete with a hidden staircase behind the fire place! The house is 330 years old!
After that we wandered around Salem some more, ate lunch at a place on the coast and had probably the best food we've had yet on this trip, then walked to the memorial/cemetery of the 19 people that were hung and one that was tortured after being accused of witch craft.

The bench looking things behind the kids were actually memorials of the people who were accused of witch craft, their names, date of death and how they were killed..
These quotes were inscribed everywhere around the memorial, they were the victims last words before they were hung.

After we were done sight seeing, we wandered into the visitors center to wait for Grandma, and Kenz found this..
There was a Captain Stephen Abbott of one of the ships and this was to honor him.. We'll have to see if we can trace him when we get back home!!
Before we left, we insisted the kids stop in this photo place and get pictures as witches. (And a warlock!) The pictures turned out hilarious, I'll have to post them on Facebook when we get home. :)

July 17th, 18th, 19th, & 20th, 2010.

Well, after venturing up into Massachusettes and visiting family, we finally got up into Maine. We only got to stay for two nights, but we sure did enjoy them! Last night we stopped in and ate at the restaurant we always go to before we leave Maine..

He kept telling us all how much he loved grilled cheese. :)
They all then took to messing around with and stabbing the lobster I'd ordered.. I don't think any of them are huge sea food fans besides Hayden..

I think Kenz is the biggest sea food hater of them all. Haha!

Later that night we went the L.L. Bean, kind of like Cabela's back home..

The instant the kids saw this boot they remembered a picture we took almost identicle to it about four years ago, and insisted on getting another one. :)

Today we ate at a similiar place to the one in Maine, this was called the Barking Crab.

This was the view of the harbor we had from exactly where we were sitting, the kids aren't used to these kinda views and they love them!

It was a really neat outdoor restaurant. :)

We're gonna be in Boston for the next couple days for Grandma's doctors appoinments, so we'll be doing some more sight seeing, I'll be updating again hopefully soon! :)

July 16th, 2010.

Today we ventured into New York! :)

We didn't actually have time to go to Ellis Island, or even to the other side of the Statue Of Liberty.. So here's a behind shot. Haha.

Kenz had originally planned to wear her DC shirt today.. So we all decided we would! We looked exactly like what we were.. Tourists!

The kids were shocked at how many sky scrapers there were.. This picture actually has the buildings they used to keep immigrants in when they first entered the country back in the late 1800's to make sure they had no diseases.

Today was pretty eventful, we woke up in DC this morning to find out that there had been an earth quake! Talk about scary! The kids (and grandma) kept teasing me that I could be a professional taxi driver in New York. Those are some scary streets, and even scarier drivers! We also went into two different tunnels that went under two different rivers. Tonight we're staying outside of the city, and tomorrow we're hoping to make it all the way up to Maine.

July 14th & 15th, 2010.

The start of July 14......Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The camera deleted Maryland, and West Virginia.

We stayed in Maryland last night and left this morning for D.C. around 11:00a.m. Almost got run off the road by a CrAzY semi driver in the hills of Maryland!

Check this guy out, he was DUSTING his car off!!LOL

Grandma and Kenz said this looked like an Angelina Jolie or Kate Gosselin picture with all the kids flocked around me walkin down the street. :)

The kids in front of the White House.. While we were taking pictures in front of the White House the president flew away in one of these two helicopters.. One was sent with him actually in it, and one was sent as a decoy.
Slade was pretty impressed by the sniper/look out posted up on the roof before and after the helicopters left. As we were walking towards the Washington Monument we passed two or three cops in the park with a couple military tactical guns.. We didn't have dad with us to give us the exact names of them..
Abbott's in front of the Washington Monument. :)

Kids in front on the Lincoln Memorial..

Just outside of the Lincoln Memorial.

It was definitly a long day.. Slade's been saying he wants to see dad every night since we left. We love and miss you dad!

July 12th & 13th, 2010.

Yesterday was pretty uneventful.. More driving. :)Slade figured out a new system of washing his own hands at our rest stops!
We drove passed this school in Kansas and Kenzie made us go back.. It was the name of her Junior High, and the Mascot of her High School! And it was in the ghetto just like her schools. ;)

The kids took to blowing bubble gum to stay entertained for a bit.
I got sucked into the gum chewing/bubble blowing only seconds after they started. :)

That night for dinner we stopped at this place called "Ted's Montana Grill." It was seriously probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! Grandma got a buffalo steak and she loved it too. The kids had homemade macoroni cheese and they said they loved it as well. I wish they'd open one back home!!Kenzie made me take this picture of St. Louis as we were driving into it.. I think it was the first city with sky scrapers we'd seen since we left home!

Kenz was really upset when we saw that the state marker for Missouri wasn't one we could get out and take a picture with.. They started referring to it as "Misery." ;)

Kenz took this as we were driving the old cobble stone back streets in "Misery." The Missouri river was so full that it was flooding everywhere.
The kids were super hot as we were looking at the arch in Missouri.. They aren't used to how humid it is here.
The arch in Missouri... That black lump standing under it is the kids. :)
We drove right passed the stadium where the Cardinals play and Kenz had to snap a few pictures for the baseball fan Dad back home. :)

We missed the tiny Indiana sign on the road, but thankfully a rest stop just over the border had this one.. Thank goodness for those rest stops!! :)
Tonight we're staying in the Marriot in Indianapolis. We THOUGHT we got a great deal on the room, and there was even a Starbucks in the lobby! But after everything got settled and all the extra fees were added on, we've learned our lesson on using Priceline.
The kids (mainly Kenzie) keep complaining about the humidity. They're used to that dry, mountain Utah air!
Hopefully tomorrow will bring more fun experiences, we'll blog back soon! :)

July 11th, 2010.

We really did nothing but drive today.. The most eventful part was probably searching for the Kansas state marker so the kids could get a picture.I gotta say though, we stayed in the most gorgeous valley yesterday, I couldn't resist taking a picture before we left the hotel.. Lets just say.. We're hoping tomorrow won't be as long of a day as today was, that's for sure.

July 10th, 2010! (Start Of Our Adventure.)

Well, here's the start of our three week road trip! We kicked off this shin dig by watching Kenz and the Shooters take gold in their Impact Black Tournament this morning! It was a tough game, we scored with five minutes left in the game to win it!The girls couldn't have done it without our fans though. ;) Including our Mascots!
Our purple and red guys were adopted in by one of our mom's and decided they dress up in yellow to support the girls. AND! They promised to reveal their identities if they won the championships. It was overall a pretty funny expierence. :)After the game and medal's ceremony we tore off and made it all the way to Glenwood Springs, Colorado! We're staying in a hotel with enough beds for EVERYONE and the kids are just happy to be out of the car for the day. We've already had some pretty entertaining experiences.. They make it all the more fun!Kenz's bruises she got from a girls cleats.. Very proud of those. :)

Glasses the kids got at Wendy's during a break from driving.

Kenzie made it a personal goal to get a picture with every state marker we come across. :)

And last but not least..

Makin' dad proud. ;)
